Cavitt’s Creek Park installs a next-generation decentralized wastewater treatment solution
We’re proud to announce the successful completion and start-up of a new Bio-Disk® wastewater treatment system at Cavitt’s Creek Park in Tazewell County, Virginia — a milestone project that marks one of the most advanced decentralized wastewater systems in the United States.

This Public–Private Partnership between EPC Ltd. and Tazewell County represents a major step forward in sustainable rural infrastructure. The system was designed, constructed, and commissioned by EPC in collaboration with county officials and engineers, combining proven fixed-film biological technology with a modular, low-energy design tailored for remote park environments.
The new installation includes a complete wastewater collection network with advanced filtration, high-efficiency drain field systems, and durable HDPE inspection chambers and manholes. Together, these components create the foundation for the park’s future growth — supporting new cabins, expanded camping areas, and increased visitor capacity.
According to local officials, the project is a model for cost-effective wastewater management that can be replicated across Virginia and beyond.
“A potential game changer in wastewater treatment was unveiled at Cavitt’s Creek Park... Called the Bio-Disk Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC), it combines nature with smart technology to purify wastewater,” reported The Bluefield Daily Telegraph. “It is more efficient and far less expensive than traditional wastewater facilities.”
